The annual LNMB conference, The Mathematics of Operations Research, is the premier gathering in the Netherlands for senior and junior researchers working in this field. The programme features presentations on current high-quality research and real-world applications, attracting both academic scholars and practitioners from industry and the public sector.

PhD presentations

The programme includes our traditional PhD student presentations on 12 and 13 January 2026. LNMB’s PhD presentations are an integral part of the conference, offering a stage for young researchers to present their ongoing work. These presentations not only allow PhD students to receive feedback and refine their ideas but also connect them with senior researchers and industry professionals.

The LNMB/NGB seminar

The third day of the LNMB conference, co-organised with NGB, continues our tradition of connecting research in Operations Research with real-world applications, offering participants a deeper understanding of how OR is applied in practice and addressing contemporary challenges faced by professionals.

Generative AI and Operations Research

The third day of the LNMB conference, co-organised with NGB, will be devoted to the theme Generative AI and Operations Research. The programme brings together leading experts from academia and industry to explore how recent advances in AI are shaping the theory and practice of OR.

The confirmed speakers are:

  • Wouter Kool (ORTEC)
  • Madeleine Udell, Stanford University
  • Durk Kingma (Anthropic, co-founder of OpenAI)

In addition to these talks, the day will feature an interactive session/game and a networking lunch for PhD students with representatives from industry.
